Addiction

Addiction can be an overwhelming struggle, affecting relationships, goals, and even self-worth. Many of us face it quietly, dealing with fear, shame, and uncertainty. Addiction isn’t something anyone chooses, yet it can gain control over us, sometimes with small choices that accumulate over time. It takes courage to admit when our behaviors are a problem, and even more courage to ask, “If I keep going this way, what will happen to my life, my relationships, my dreams?”

Acknowledging the reality of addiction is a powerful first step. Whether it’s substance use, habitual media consumption, or another form of dependency, recognizing the path we’re on allows us to start healing. Facing this struggle alone can feel impossible, but no one has to. Reaching out for support is essential, and Asbury Seminary offers compassionate pastoral care and counseling referrals to help.

Recovery is a journey, and while it requires vulnerability and resilience, healing is absolutely possible. There’s hope in connection, and our community is here to walk with you through it. If you’re feeling a tug on your heart or an awareness of your next step, don’t hesitate—reach out, talk, and remember that we stand with you. May the God of peace, Yahweh Shalom, provide you with the strength, courage, and grace you need on this journey.
